[𝐓𝐄𝐃𝐱𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐔 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏: YOUNG PEOPLE’S OPPORTUNITIES IN A FLAT WORLD]

The past two decades have marked the remarkable development of Science and Technology in human history. We have had typical achievements such as Smartphones, Cloud Computing models or Artificial Intelligence (AI), etc. Those achievements have gradually crept into our lives and are changing the world in all fields, especially in Economy, Education, Entertainment.

Thanks to that rapid development, Laptops and Smartphones are getting thinner and faster. High-speed Internet is no longer a "luxury" like it used to be. From there, the term "Flat World" was born, referring to a world where the Internet connects everything, we can access everything, regardless of geographical barriers. A world where young people can more easily get to know lots of macro issues, perspectives, or update stories that are happening on the other side of The Earth.

That young generation is known as the Digital Generation, or more commonly Gen Z. They are a collection of citizens born between 1995 and 2010. This is the first generation to have access to digital information and communication technology from a very young age. They grow up with numerous favorable conditions for personal development and are expected to possess a deep understanding of the world around them.

They have a big global playing field right in the middle of the 4.0 era. A playground that is full of pressure comes together with a seemingly equal percentage of chances. However, that playground is also an opportunity for the people of this generation to bring their own identities, homelands, countries, to the world through social networks, websites, and blogs.

The Flat World is creating a lot of conditions for young people to discover themselves and develop their passions... Online learning platforms like Coursera, Edx are offering hundreds of free courses from prestigious universities around the world. YouTube channels that impart knowledge in every field can be easily found with just a few clicks. Not to mention organizations, transnational programs, extracurricular activities for young people also appear more and more. The advantage for learning and experiencing today will be a useful tool to help them (young people) develop their skill sets, ready to step out into the global playing field. With the Opportunities mentioned above, plus the Potential such as youth, ambition, and different thinking, The Digital Generation will have more power to change the world together. However, will the "gift" that the world gives the young generation reach all? Or will there be injustices, difficulties that many of them have to face, or are prevented from realizing their dreams?
