โ€œKnowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdomโ€

-- said Aristotle, an ancient Greek scholar.

We may deduce from this statement that successful people are those who are able to perceive, evaluate, and be aware of themselves.

๐’๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ-๐‘๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง has long been seen as one of the most effective ways for people to get a better understanding of themselves and pave the way for future growth. Once we understand ourselves, we will become self-aware. ๐’๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ-๐€๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ is a crucial characteristic of every successful leader.

On the contrary, without self-reflection, we will go through life without pausing to consider what has happened. We don't take the time to consider, evaluate, and judge what is good about ourselves, what we don't like about ourselves, what concerns us, what we performed well or poorly, what our strengths and weaknesses are...

1. What is self-reflection?

Self-reflection is the act of thinking, reminiscing, evaluating, and learning from stories and events that happened in the past.

Simon Sinek, author of the best-seller โ€œStart With Whyโ€ said:โ€(Self-reflection)... is to be able to separate yourself to look at the situation as if you were the third party evaluating itโ€ฆ (Self-reflection) is the ability to take some responsibility for the outcome of what you did, good or bad so you can learn to do that again or learn to spot the situations and avoid them in the future.โ€

Reflection not only helps us shape our personal identity for growth, but it also helps us understand our feelings and intentions. This is crucial when it comes to sustaining relationships. Furthermore, self-reflection also improves your decision-making. You'll be able to make the best decisions after knowing who you are, what you need, and what's best for you.

2. Learn to self-reflect through JOURNALING

There are many ways for us to start self-reflecting, however, ๐“๐„๐ƒ๐ฑ๐‡๐€๐๐” will introduce a method that we think is extremely simple and effective called ๐‰๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ .

In a study on the relationship between self-reflection and academic performance, Magdeleine DN Lew and Professor Henk G. Schmidt showed that students who had a habit of Journaling Reflection all have an improvement in their study.

Not only that, but an Olympic athlete has also improved her performance just by journaling. Her name is Nicola McDermott - an Australian high jumper who won a silver medal at Tokyo 2020. In an interview, Nicola shared that after each jump, she writes it down in her notebook so that she could reflect on her performance. Thanks to such continuous journaling, the female athlete has achieved the successes of today.

Writing/Journaling is a way of expressing oneโ€™s thoughts. You should let your thoughts out rather than attempting to synthesize and connect them in your brain. Your ideas and feelings will emerge in front of your eyes while you write. We'll be able to analyze and learn more effectively at that point since we'll have a more comprehensive perspective of the situation. Also, writing is a good method to unwind and release stress.

In the following days, ๐“๐„๐ƒ๐ฑ๐‡๐€๐๐” will provide a place for all readers to write down personal stories to reflect on themselves. We eagerly anticipate your collaboration.
